Items UMAC Will Not Ship

  • Cash and currency — coins, bills, and money orders (risk of loss/theft in transit)
  • Firearms and ammunition
  • Explosives or items resembling weapons
  • Illegal drugs (and unlicensed prescription medication — see note below)
  • Perishable food items
  • Precious metals and gemstones (gold, silver, platinum, diamonds — theft risk)
  • Traveler’s checks and other negotiable financial instruments

Restricted or Special-Permission Items

  • Alcohol — restricted quantities, confirm with your branch
  • Medicines — often require documentation; check with your branch before shipping prescription medication
  • Branded/logo clothing in bulk — may trigger customs scrutiny as commercial goods rather than personal gifts
